How Do We Test the Spirits? Does 1 John 4 Teach That We Should Interrogate Spirits?? How Should We Love Other Christians? Reading 1 John 4 #275

In 1 John 4 we are told to test the spirits to see if they are teaching truly or falsely. Does this passage mean that we are to literally speak to and interrogate spirits somehow? If so - how can we do this?!
